I wish there was a sort of nicotine patch for period movies, because I am HOOKED. So far, I’ve only watched the ones that were recently made (for instance, the four movies up there – I got lazy so I only put up those four), but I should probably start watching some of the older ones as well (I especially want to watch Anne of a Thousand Days, SQUEE!). The problem I notice with period movies, though, is that the historical inaccuracies are abundant (and annoying). And some in cases, they really drag out some parts, making the viewer (me) want to quit halfway!

So why am I addicted to them, you ask?

Well, for one thing, the cinematography in some of these period movies are SUPERB. They really capture the beauty and grace of a particular era, something you really don’t see in an action-packed or slapstick comedy (I despise movies like Date Movie or Epic Movie; they’re just sooo bad). And the costumes! The landscapes! The delectable accents! *swoooons* They really leave me breathless at times. Makes me wish I lived in that time period. (In truth, I know I’ll hate it, though… how do they manage to use the toilet in those elaborate dresses??)

As for upcoming period movies that are going to be released in theaters, I’m really looking forward to watching Brideshead Revisited and The Duchess.

OH NO! I just saw that Brideshead Revisited is already showing in theaters!!! EEP! Must check Fandango for showtimes or something… Maybe I can convince my sister to watch it with me. Matthew Goode<333
