SO LONG, HIGH SCHOOL~ Friday, June 27, 2008

So I hopped on the read-old-Xanga-entries bandwagon and here’s what I discovered: I seriously OD’ed on smileys as a freshman and sophomore. I mean, it was getting to the point where the entries looked ridiculous. Case in point:

Man, reading that was annoying.

I also found this in my old Xanga:

I got tagged by MANDY.

“Rules are that you tag the amount of people due to the amount of time it takes you to list 20 facts about yourself.”

01. I’m Christian.
02. I’m probably the shortest sophomore in Tech.
03. I hate math.
04. I also hate ASHLEE SIMPSON (POSER!).
05. I’m very gullible…
06. I’m homophobic when it comes to myself.
07. I love PINK!
08. I think older guys are hot…
09. I think Polo Dude is also very hot.
10. I’m an insomniac during the weekends and holidays.
11. I hate SHOTS!
12. I thought French was a pretty language until I listened to those gay textbook tapes.
13. I hate being POKED! (*AHEM*CATHY*AHEM)
14. I’m an impulse buyer.
15. I only watch tennis and swimming for the hot guys…
16. I moved around four times already.
17. I’ve never had a best friend for more than two years…
18. I still talk to my Cali friends.
19. I hate Chinatown because of the FISHY SMELL!
20. And last but not least…I DO NOT WEAR THONGS!!!(*AHEM*MANDY*AHEM*)

The crazy thing is that those 20 things still apply to me (just change “sophomore” to “senior” in number 2; and yes, I think if I happen to see Polo Dude and his hot back again on the street, I’ll probably still think he’s droolworthy), so I guess I really haven’t changed all that much (save for the fact that I’ve calmed down a bit on the smileys).

I’m not going to make this a long entry, because mostly I don’t think it’s really hit me yet that high school is over. Kaput. Dunzo. Yup, felt nothing. I stared at my diplomas for a good five minutes last night, and the only thing I could think of was “Wow, my sister’s Temple City H.S. diploma is nicer and more colorful.” I don’t think that’s what a person who just graduated from high school thinks of. I didn’t even shed a tear yesterday or anything! I don’t know. Perhaps the flood gates will open once people start leaving for college. Anyway, it’s weird; I don’t think apathy becomes me.

In other news, I got a 94 on my Math B regents! Yay! Now if only I could have had Mr. Shah last year for math… Would have saved me a whole lot of trouble.

Peace out, guys. Enjoy this summer because it’s a momentous one!

HEY HEY YOU YOU! If you’re as much of a bookworm as me, you might want to check out the new WordPress blog that my sister and I made over the weekend. It’s a book review blog, and uh, the layout is really pretty!! Anyway, just thought I’ll throw it out there. Who knows? It might come in handy when you want something to read on the beach but you don’t know where to start. :)

KOBE DUNKS AND SO DOES SCHOOL Monday, June 16, 2008

As I promised in my previous entry, here is the actual clip of Kobe Bryant stealing and dunking in the final minute of last night’s game:

In other news, it’s 2:56 on a Monday afternoon, and I’m chillin’ in my room with nothing to do. And not just for a couple of hours either. Ah. It feels good to be able to relax and not worry over any schoolwork right now (except for Math B regents on Thursday. Eek!). I feel mellow. Mellow yellow. And I think the Indonesian iced tea I’m having is making me a little high, but that’s okay. It’s okay because today is the unofficial last day of high school, and it feels pretty good.

I realized that there was a lot of “OMG, it’s the last Monday of our high school lives!!” etc. coming from the seniors today, and even though I share those sentiments as well, I’m actually more glad that high school is pretty much over. Don’t get me wrong, my four years of high school has been memorable and fun for the most part, but knowing that I made it to my high school graduation is a huge sigh of relief. This is the moment I’ve been waiting for since my own sister’s high school graduation when I envied her for having made it through the finish line first. Of course, now that I’m older I realize that it’s not really a race, but a personal journey type of thing where, instead of the finish line, there are benchmarks placed along the way – and graduating high school is just one among many.

This past weekend I’ve had a lot of time to reflect as I recuperated at home from my vertigo episodes last week. I did some serious thinking about the future, but I also went back in time and reminisced over the past four years at Tech. The reality over how much I’ve changed and grown (um, not physically) since freshman year is shocking. I mean, if you think I’m a quiet little Asian girl now, you should have met meĀ  back in freshman year (and for those of you who did know me back then, you know what I’m talkin’ bout). Back then only Kevin knew the extent of my weird, crazy side, but now lots of people know that I can be…a little left of center. Even my faith has grown since then. I think it wasn’t until TECBC sophomore year and, more importantly, last year when I was going through some tough times that I fully realized God’s love for me and that He’s there for me, not just as an abstract power that I should love and fear on a shallow level.

As for friendships, every year has definitely brought changes, some good and some not-so-good. If anything, though, those changes, even the painful ones, have only molded me into the person I am today, so I’m grateful for them. Hm, what was that saying again? “Trials and tribulations are good for building character” …or something like that. Anyway, I had to learn the hard way that I can’t go back and reverse things (or even worse, pretend like nothing happened), I can only move forward. Move on.

Sooo, with that said… *sings* looks like we made iiit ~ !

Tonight…tonight my faith in the Lakers has been REVIVED!!! WOOOWEE, what a game! I totally forgot how EXHILARATING basketball can be.

Of course, the spotlight’s on Kobe Bryant tonight, thanks to the AWESOME SLAM DUNK he scored in the final minute! The sly steal…smooth pass to either Odom or Fisher (will figure this out later)…confident regain of the ball…FLYING LEAP TO THE BASKET…and BAM!! Ahh!! It was just so beautiful!!

The final result: Lakers beat Celtics, 103-98.

I can’t wait for the Kobe slam-dunk clip to go on Youtube, so I can post it up here. In the meantime, I’m betting you’re all shocked right now to find out that I actually watch the NBA finals. Mmhmm. Don’t lie. Even Sam was surprised when he found out. Lakers are my homeboys yo!

In any case, I’m off to bed now. Goood NIGHT!

Now you can hear Coldplay’s new album Viva La Vida or Death and All His Friends in its ENTIRETY on Z100.com before it’s release on June 17th!! How awesome is that? I’m currently listening to it now, and the sound quality is pretty good considering it’s streamed online.

Ah! The songs are absolutely amazing. “Viva La Vida” is still my favorite, though — can’t beat those gorgeous lyrics.

Here’s a perk to waking up at 5 a.m. in the morning: logging on to the TECBC homepage and finding out that YES! the 3rd video has arrived and is just an evaluation away!

Unfortunately for me, the video ends at 3 minutes!!! So yeah…I’m pretty bleh about it. But oh well. Hope it goes up on Youtube soon! Fill out those evaluations, guys, so it’ll be up on Youtube!
